RV and Deep-Cycle Marine Batteries
You rely on your watercraft and RV to get you where you need to go. We offer a wide variety of deep cycle, maintenance-free and gel cell batteries for all types of vessels. Whether on land or at sea, our marine and RV power solutions keep you moving.
Marine Batteries
Marine batteries are specifically designed for life at sea. They feature robust construction that can withstand pounding waves, engine vibrations and the natural jostling that happens on the water. Continental Battery Systems offers marine batteries that are built tough and built to last. Types of marine batteries include:
- Starting batteries, sometimes called cranking batteries, provide short bursts of energy to start your watercraft’s engine. Similar to a car battery, they are recharged by the engine’s alternator.
- Deep-cycle batteries discharge slowly over time. They are best suited for powering onboard electronics like depth finders, trolling motors or sounds systems. Deep-cycle batteries can be discharged and recharged repeatedly.
- Dual-purpose batteries combine the strengths of starting and deep-cycle batteries.
RV Batteries
Your RV is your home away from home. Our selection of RV batteries ensure a smooth trip that won’t leave you stranded. Types of RV batteries include:
Lead-Acid BatteriesContinental Battery Systems carries a wide range of flooded, AGM and gel deep-cycle lead-acid batteries that offer excellent run times and good cycle life.
- Flooded lead-acid batteries, or conventional batteries, are ideal for the RV owner who is serious about maintaining their land craft. Lead-acid batteries are less expensive than other types of batteries and rechargeable. The lifespan may be shorter than other types of batteries if they’re not properly maintained.
- Absorbent glass mat (AGM) lead-acid batteries are maintenance free, spill proof and long-lasting. AGM batteries can be more expensive than flooded batteries, and can be more sensitive to charging in extreme heat and cold.
- Like AGM, gel batteries are maintenance-free and spill proof. But gel batteries contain silica in the electrolytes, which creates a gel-like substance and gives the battery its name. They have a slightly longer life expectancy than AGMs and should not be overcharged.
Lithium Batteries
- Deep-cycle lithium batteries have a long life cycle and pack a lot of power in a lighter-weight package. The recharge time for lithium batteries is faster than lead acid. Lithium batteries can be sensitive to extreme heat and cold, but with proper maintenance are an excellent choice to power your RV — especially if you’re an off-grid camper who likes to rely on solar power. Continental Battery Systems’ selection of lithium batteries provide clean and consistent voltage, zero-maintenance sealed construction and easy drop-in replacement for current batteries.
How to Store Your RV Battery
When packing up your RV for the off-season, don’t forget to properly store your battery. By some estimates, a battery left hooked up and engaged to your RV will draw down in a matter of days.
- Remove your battery from the RV and fully charge it using a battery charger.
- Store your battery indoors or in a climate-controlled environment on a board or shelf to prevent it from getting too cold.
- Check your battery every four to six weeks and recharge as needed.
- Connect your battery to a battery tender that will provide a charge only when the voltage in the battery drops so as not to risk over charging.
